Situated just off the bustle of San Sebastián’s town center, this cozy spot offers a calm retreat where locals and visitors alike gravitate for authentic, straightforward meals. The menu changes regularly, reflecting fresh, seasonal ingredients with a focus on small plates that allow for sharing and exploring different flavors — think mushroom croquettes and shrimp dishes that highlight earthy and coastal influences.
During a typical visit, you’ll find a lively yet casual atmosphere, especially around the bar where the busy staff serve up great coffee alongside a well-rounded selection of wine, beer, and hard liquors. The space can get quite busy, with a mix of solo diners appreciating the quick service, groups chatting over lunch or dinner, and families comfortably settled with high chairs. Those who don’t speak Spanish may find communication a bit of a challenge, but the friendly staff usually manage to bridge any gaps.
With both outdoor seating and a cozy basement dining area, the place adapts well to the weather, making it a welcoming spot any time of day—from breakfast and brunch to a relaxed evening meal. Practical amenities such as wheelchair accessible entrances and seating, table service, and various payment options make it convenient without fuss. It’s a good fit for anyone looking for casual dining away from the most tourist-heavy areas, with a relaxed vibe that invites you to enjoy genuinely local flavors at reasonable prices.

"Another great place for a good choice of food and drink at good prices."
"The meat and the french fries were so heavily salted we could barely eat them."
"We really enjoyed the lunch meal of the day dining outside."
5 Food was delicious. We loved the mushroom croquette and the shrimps with mushrooms. Nom nom
5 Fantastic and authentic local food! I would come again any time possible!
5 Food is delicious, coffee very good and the service quick. But if you don't speak Spanish don't expect understanding. One bartender was very helpful and we communicated with profound help of sign language. Lucky for us, because it was really worth the trouble :) The place was usually packed, pintxos fresh and tasty, barstaff very busy :)
5 €13 euro for three courses, really good food as well. Quick service, menu changes daily. Originally stated outside but rain pushed us inside to the basement restaurant, Lovely dining area. Recommend to all.
4 Rather simple and enjoyable restaurant in the middle of San Sebastián/Donostia 's town center. This was a bit away from the most touristic part of the city, which really shows after seeing the price difference in-between the restaurants in both sectors! For 14 euros you could get the full two-dishes menú, with some really interesting choices. Recommended.
5 Lovely pavement cafe very near main train station. Absolutely delicious tapas and Spanish omelette for lunch at good prices. Would highly recommend - superb!
5 Another great place for a good choice of food and drink at good prices. This area seems to get really busy early evening.
5 I had an exquisite squid croquette in its ink, as they say here, and a prawn skewer. Extremely high standard of cooking. The location is super; the outside terrace is in a small square that seems to be mostly full of locals. We also went local and had some cider. Very tasty and powerful stuff.
Many guests enjoy the mushroom croquettes and shrimp with mushrooms, along with fresh pintxos and daily-changing menus.
Restaurante Casa Javier suits both quick stops and relaxed visits, offering quick service and cozy seating areas.
The restaurant is usually busy, especially at lunch and dinner, so arriving early or during off-peak hours can make for a quieter experience.
Yes, the place is casual and cozy, ideal for groups, tourists, and solo diners alike.
There is wheelchair accessible entrance and seating, but no wheelchair accessible parking onsite.
They accept credit cards, debit cards, and NFC mobile payments for convenience.
